Clear, Supportive Answers for Your Parenting Journey
Trying something new, especially when it comes to your baby, can bring up a lot of questions. This FAQ section is here to give you clarity and confidence as you explore how TykeKnit’s infant massage and developmental coaching can support your family. If you don’t see your question here, feel free to contact me, I welcome chatting with you to see if my services through TykeKnit are a good fit for your parenting journey.
What qualifications or certifications do you have in infant massage?
I am a Certified Infant Touch and Massage Instructor through the International Institute of Infant Massage, and a licensed physical therapist with a doctoral degree from Northeastern University. With more than 30 years of experience working alongside families—as a pediatric physical therapist, early intervention specialist, and developmental specialist—I bring a practical, routines-based approach to teaching infant massage that’s tailored to your baby’s unique developmental needs.
What can I expect from a virtual infant massage session?
Each session is calm, guided, and baby-led. I’ll demonstrate massage techniques on a doll while coaching you step by step as you massage your baby. There’s plenty of room for questions, breaks, or feeding, your baby sets the pace. Expect nurturing connection, not perfection.
How long are the sessions, and how many do I need?
Sessions typically last about 45 minutes. Most families benefit from a series of 4–5 sessions to learn the full routine, ask questions, and build confidence. Even a single session will set you on your way with baby massage. You’re welcome to book a single session or a package depending on your needs and budget.
When is the best time to start infant massage?
Massage can begin from birth, but most parents start when their baby is around 4–6 weeks old. That said, it’s never too late! I tailor sessions for newborns up to 24-month-old babies, adapting techniques as your baby grows.
What if my baby cries, sleeps, needs to feed, or is very active during the session?
That’s completely normal, and expected! We work together to follow your baby’s cues. If they need to feed, be held, rest, or move around we pause or adapt. I’ll still demonstrate techniques for you to try later. This is a no-pressure, baby-centered space.
